This ministry gets a lot of donations from church members and their families and friends and stored in a trailer at our church.  When we are informed by the shelter or someone from the church that someone needs furniture or household items I contact them to see what it is they need.  Once I get their request I check the trailer to see if we have what they need, then make arrangements with other church members to deliver to them

We have had many different request, furniture, household items and bedding.

I get much satisfaction whenever we are able to help someone change their house into a home.  We have even picked up and set up a Christmas tree and decorations for someone with 2 small children and with the generosity of my church family we were able to get gifts for them too.  There is no better feeling than to see the relief and happiness on their faces.

After helping someone get set up in their home I normally stay in touch for a few weeks, i believe this gives them a feeling of comfort just knowing we are here just to give them furniture. I was given someone’s name from the shelter that moved and needed some assistance so I reached out and called her.  We were able to fulfill her request.  I asked her if she goes to church and she said she didn’t have transportation.  I offered to pick her up and she accepted and since then she has been coming to church and helping out with our other ministries.

This ministry has made me look at how blessed I am so if we do not have some items they are in need of, I give them from my home if I have it and if I don’t, I’ll get it for them

When others hear of what we do, they are amazed and they start getting involved by either helping us or donating. When those we help keep telling us thank you, i tell them, "no, thank you".  it isn’t easy trying to get arrangements made (people to help, trucks) and can get a little frustrating but once we complete the mission i realize that it is all worth it.
